How the fashion set is tackling 'layering' this season, from jewellery to wrapped ankles and 'drousers'

Is it just me, or have the temperatures *really* dropped in this past week? I went from going on lunchtime walks in a hoodie alone to wrapping up in 758402 layers just for my 30-second stroll to the corner shop. For wine. Quite clearly. It's freezing, so you'd best make sure you've got some cold weather attire to match.
When winter hits, investing in the cosy essentials your mamma would be proud of is paramount: I'm talking winter boots of supreme quality, a warm winter coat, gloves, scarves and one of the best winter hats. And as it goes, treating yourself to the latter is the easiest way of ensuring your cold-weather outfit stands out from the rest of them. While every other person you pass might be donning Arket's down puffer coat and Ganni's new season chunky tan Chelsea boots (for good reason), a winter hat will help you bring a touch of individuality and up your headwear game tenfold. All while keeping you warm.
So what are the biggest winter hat trends of the season? I'll start with the fluffy bucket hat craze, which seems to be taking the internet by storm right now. Aided, in part (or full, as the case may be) by Emily Ratajkowski’s love for them. I've searched through thousands upon thousands of the best hats for women to curate this edit, and sitting there in the "best seller" sections of numerous sites was always a fluffy bucket number or two. Like a hug for your head (v. welcome when we can't enjoy many IRL hugs *cry*), these fuzzy hats were first seen at the likes of Emma Brewin but are now beginning to crop up on the high street. ASOS, Topshop and Weekday are all following suit. Want a piece of the action? Make a beeline for pastel hues like lilac and powder blue, and opt for fabrics of consistent quality.
There's also the classic beanie. World-class and undoubtedly reigning supreme in the winter hat arena, beanies are a style staple for everyone. If you're a minimalist, opt for neutral or monochrome tones like sand and grey (Arket's merino beanie is available in an array of colours), but to inject a welcome pop of joyous vibrancy into an otherwise drab winter outside, opt for something bright. Case in point: Balenciaga's pink wool-blend beanie. The middle ground? & Other Stories dropped a contrast panel beanie with a turn-up brim and fuzzy finish. Bookmark the page for the day it comes back in stock, so you don't miss out!
The moral of the story? Not all woolly hats are made equal. They vary in shape, knit, texture and style. Some are crafted from cashmere while others and knitted in Merino wool. Some have bobbles on the top and some come plain and simple. And we've found the best on all fronts.
